LUNCHEON IN THE GRASS WITH MARIE

Luncheon in the Grass with Marie explores the debauchery and over self indulgence of the rich and powerful.  Women in those class systems may reign supreme over the masses, but she is still nothing more than an object, or a thing within her own social class.  This dark satire of a modern day Marie Antoinette gorging herself on sweets and delectables, was inspired by Édouard Manet’s painting Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe (1863). O’Connor depicts a woman, desperate for love and affection.  Satiate your palate with Marie, as she lies on her little patch of astroturf, surrounded by cakes and candies, both real and imagined.  Feed the regality, or indulge yourself.
